Draft Canterbury Transport Strategy adopted for consultation

Tranzwatching in Canterbury, Te Wai Pounamu, New Zealand

The Canterbury Regional Transport Committee has adopted a draft 30 year Canterbury Regional Land Transport Strategy (RLTS) for consultation. This a process that all regions of NZ are required to do ever six years. Regional Transport committees have representatives from all regional and district councils and NZ Transport Agency.

The strategy covers all modes of transport, so public transport only gets a part look in, though the spin in these always about creating "sustainable" transport etc.

The copies of the Draft strategy are usually available to peruse or photocopy parts at city and district libraries - the consultation opens August 20th, the deadline for submissions is September 23rd
